Salon Goodness August 2025

PUPPY UPDATE

Sammy's Boo-Boo

ree

Our sweet Sammy had a little mishap at home while we were on summer vacation last week. She needed staples — which means she’s now sporting the infamous cone of shame.

She’s healing up beautifully, but walking her on a leash every time she goes outside? Let’s just say it’s been… an adventure. Despite it all, she’s still her same sweet, playful self.

BACK TO SCHOOL

Big Changes for Us

ree

Since back-to-school season also means the end of summer vacations, it should be a little easier to snag an appointment at the salon — so if you’ve been waiting for a spot, now’s your chance!

Big changes are coming in our house! Matthew heads off to college in just one week — move-in day at Millersville University is August 21, where he’ll be studying business. It’s going to be a bittersweet day, and I’m crossing my fingers I can hold it together and not embarrass him with too many tears.

Meanwhile, my sweet Megan is starting her senior year of high school! She’s excited for all the fun senior events ahead… but let’s just say the school work isn’t exactly what she’s looking forward to.

With one more year until I’m officially an empty nester, I can hardly believe how fast time has flown.

SUMMER VACATION 2025

Saint Michaels, Maryland

I can’t wait to hear all about your summer adventures! Don’t forget to bring your photos to your next appointment — I love seeing them. And I’m especially curious… how did your curls hold up in the humidity this year compared to summers before you learned how to care for them?

If you're interested, here's a recap of one of my summer getaways:

For those who’ve been with me a while, you know my girlfriends and I have gone on a trip together every year since 2002 — the same eight of us! This year was extra special as we celebrated three of us turning 50. We stayed in a beautiful VRBO in Saint Michaels, Maryland — and wow, it lived up to all the hype.

If you’ve never been, I highly recommend it: a charming little town with unique shops and restaurants, live music, and even some thrifting treasures.

Our days were full of adventure and relaxation — biking into town, catching crabs off our own dock, floating in the pool, indulging in a crab feast with a charcuterie spread and wine… and of course, lots of laughs and heartfelt conversations.

These trips always remind me of the power of girlfriends: celebrating each other’s highs, lifting each other up when we’re down, and simply being there for one another.
