Frizz & Humidity

Let's talk about it frizz and humidity. Frizz can happen for all kinds of reasons, but humidity is usually one of the biggest factors. If your hoping to beat frizz this season and next - this is for you!

Why humidity can = frizz

If your hair gets frizzy in humidity, it’s not random.  Your curls are actually reaching out for moisture from the air.

The fix? Give your hair what it needs first. When your curls are well hydrated with the right products and water, they’re less likely to frizz out in the humidity.

Solution

On wash days, focus on adding hydration and sealing it in.  Hydrate your very wet curls with a filler (think hydrating cream or leave in conditioner), and then use a sealer on top, like a stronger hold gel or foam.

The hydration will be locked in resulting in a lot less frizz.

*Hot tip:

Don't forget to apply in sections to evenly distribute your products... if not, you will know exactly where you missed the minute you step outside ;)

72-hour frizz control, even in humidity! Now that’s a bold claim, I have heard/seen it’s true (TBH I haven’t personally been in the humidity to try it out, I will keep you posted).

I suggest using the Air Dry Styling Cream as your filler, and then layering on a foam for hold. Innersense I Create Volumizing Foam or I Create Definition Foam are perfect for this.

For best results, diffuse dry to 100%

Still getting frizz?

If you find you are still getting frizz let’s troubleshoot that…

  • When was the last time you clarified?  Buildup can block water and product from getting into your hair from the start.

  • Are you drying your hair fully before you “touch your hair” ? Breaking the cast before your hair is dry can cause frizz.

  • Remember, some frizz occurs naturally as the curl clumps expand on day two , three, and four.

Tucking hair behind your ears, and ponytails can elongate your curls, expanding the clumps and causing frizz.

Be reminded that taking sunglasses on and off the top of your head can cause frizz and elongated curls.
