flat curls?

One thing I’ve started doing lately is keeping track of common client pain points after appointments. If I had to pick one of the most common, it would be this:
"My curls don't start from the root!"
Have you ever wished your curls started higher up, instead of falling flat at the roots?
This is one of the most common things I hear from new guests.

The good news?
There are a few simple reasons it happens- and most of them can be improved.
4 Reasons & Solutions
You’re air drying
Air drying can stretch your curls as they dry, leaving the roots flatter. The weight of the water elongates the curls. Try diffusing instead. Don’t stop at “ this is dry enough” and diffuse until your hair is 100% dry. ( I see you out there rushing the process :;)

It’s happening during wet styling
If you’re smoothing products down the hair shaft, you may be pulling your curls flat without realizing it. Instead, LIFT your hair up and away from the scalp while applying products and styling. If you haven’t tried this yet, brush styling can also help encourage lift at the roots.

You’re raking through your curls
Running your fingers through your hair throughout the day can stretch your curl pattern and cause it to lose volume. The less you disturb your curls, the better and longer they’ll hold their SHAPE.
Product buildup is WEIGHING your hair down
If it’s been a while since you’ve clarified, give it a try. Buildup can make curls look limp and lifeless.

That’s when I recommend CLARIFYING. You know my favorite is Detox Hair Mask by Innersense because it helps remove buildup that can be weighing you down.
If your curls always seem to fall flat, start by changing just ONE of these habits. Small tweaks often make a big difference.
